Euromasters have brought out the replicas of two of the classics of the auto world and to our complete delight, they have replaced the gasoline powered engines with all-electric oomph. That sure makes the Porsche 356 Speedster and Porsche 550 Spyder more appealing than ever before. While they are only replicas of the famed-originals, they still bring back some fond memories and some that we might like to forget (like the James dean crash!).
The replacing of the engines with all-electric new ones does not take away from the speed or the range of these classic imitations though. The 550 Spyder comes with 120hp motors, top speed of over 100mph, a range of over 200 miles, and races off from 0 to 60 in a mere matter of 5.6 seconds. So much for the theory of electric cars being slower than those powered by fossil fuel!
The replicas were unveiled at the LA Auto Show and you can bring home one of these for $49,900, and if you want the special James Dean Edition, then you will have to fork out extra $5000. Vintage wheels that are emission-free are something that we are all for; even if they are replicas of the originals. Hopefully, we will see a few classic Ferrari replicas with electric engines as well.
