Man is looking for newer ways of creativity to satisfy his art crave, necessity and luxury. It is such creativeness that Bob Campbell AKA ‘Stig’, wants the world to see. Through his creativity he transforms houses of many into a wonderland, with nothing but industrial materials and redundant metal parts. He has the gift to convert wasteful metal scraps into beautiful furniture which are admired not just for the good looks, but also for the creativity in his capability to transform unwanted materials into our daily needs. This not just helps reduce the wastage of metal elements into our ecosystem, but also induces in the users a sense of reusability and regeneration.
The artist
Bob Campbell is a self-taught sculptor from England. He is located in South Yorkshire in England, where he manages his workshop and has his home. For the past one decade he has been working out of his workshop creating such masterpieces of his work. He says,
“I make sophisticated sculptures that go far beyond their functional use. Every piece of work I produce takes its own form, each piece of material I use is re-claimed and re-used from industrial machinery that has now been discarded, by doing this I create a sculpture that has a use as well as an aesthetic beauty. “
He uses the discarded machinery parts which he finds in and around his area, to help others in finding perfect design for their dwellings.
The inspiration
Cambell got inspired after seeing the huge amount of discarded machineries and metals in South Yorkshire, after a big decline of the heavy industry and steel production companies there. These metal wastes were reason for high amount of pollution in the area. As a lover of the nature, he wanted these wastes to be recycled and brought to the people in a new form. He used his skills to turn them into furniture and now his creations decorate a thousand rooms in England.
The material
The Artist has been creating sculpture from industrial scrap metal, transforming discarded machinery parts into objects of desire. Each piece of material used to create these one-of-a-kind artworks is re-claimed and re-used from industrial machinery that has now been discarded.
The artwork
The artworks include everything from small chairs to huge metal architectures that decorate huge posh halls. Something that anyone would claim deserves a place in dustbin, was taken out of such bins and carved into exotic pieces of art, which remains not just as art, but a basic necessity for a home. Bob mostly works on his own, with the designs in his mind. A design once done will never reappear in his new works.
Glowing aspects
The advantages in this kind of recycling are that there is a huge amount of time, labor, resource and money saved in making this furniture. The waste metal is reused, and sold in new forms, instead of dumping into the environment, corroding our earth’s future. So, the same discarded material gets to live longer and in a better and beautiful form in others houses.
What is in it for me?
It is now up to people who think that such initiatives could prove to be major revolutions that would help us appreciate our world and the nature around us. Creating a fantasy with objects that has been thrown away by us, and making people see how wonderful the world would be if resources are not wasted, but used in other forms, is what Bob has shown us. At this moment, the world needs more people to realize this, and like Bob, each one should work in this direction, for a better tomorrow.
