MWC 2011: Acer's Offerings

Acer, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, announced four new devices – three of which are tablets, with the remainder being a smartphone with a rather unique feature.

Acer ICONIA TAB A500
This 10.1-inch tablet comes equipped with a Tegra 2 Processor and Android 3.0 Honeycomb, with a customised Acer UI on top.

  • 10.1-inch capacitive multi-touchscreen
  • 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
  • Android 3.0 Honeycomb
  • HDMI-out, 1080p video playback
  • 5 megapixel camera, HD front-facing camera
The ICONIA TAB A500 will be available starting April.

Acer ICONIA TAB A100
Another Honeycomb and Tegra 2 tablet, this one is basically a 7-inch iteration of the A500.

The specs are as follows:
  • NVIDIA Tegra 2 CPU
  • NVIDIA GeForce GPU
  • 7-inch capacitive multi-touchscreen at 1024x600
  • 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
  • Android 3.0 Honeycomb
  • HDMI-out, 1080p video playback
  • 5 megapixel camera, 2 megapixel front-facing camera
  • Full-size and mini-USB ports
The ICONIA TAB A100 will also come out in April.

Acer ICONIA TAB W500
This Windows 7 tablet runs on the AMD Fusion C-50 processor and is powered by a Radeon HD6250 GPU.

Here are the specs:
  • AMD Fusion C-50 CPU
  • AMD Radeon HD6250 GPU
  • 10.1-inch capacitive multi-touchscreen
  • Windows 7
  • Wi-Fi, 3G and Bluetooth 3.0
  • Dual 1.3 megapixel webcams
  • HDMI port
  • USB port
  • Keyboard dock support
Acer ICONIA SMART
Last, but certainly not least is the ICONIA SMART, which will turn a few heads thanks its screen. The 4.8-inch touchscreen has a 21:9 aspect ratio, which will make it ideal for quite a few cinemascopeheads.

The ICONIA TAB W500 and the ICONIA SMART don’t have concrete release windows yet and none of the devices have had prices announced. We’ll just have to wait it out.
