Samsung Galaxy S II Might Have a Tegra 2 Variant

We all know the Samsung Galaxy S II was announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, but what we didn't know was that there could another variant of the phone, possibly powered by NVIDIA's Tegra 2 mobile processor. The Galaxy S II shown off at MWC boasted Samsung's own dual-core processor based on the ARM architecture, but eagle-eyed AnandTech found out that the feature was mentioned in the official specsheet as "may not be applicable in some regions". This theory is given more credence given the fact that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 has a Tegra 2 under its hood, and that Samsung and NVIDIA announced that they would indeed be working on a smartphone together.

S II with Tegra 2?

Either way, it certainly does make sense. We’ve got precedents, considering the Galaxy S and Nexus S both had region-specific variants, and we’ve got a reason – that being Samsung's SoC production might not be enough to meet the demand for the Galaxy S II, which will no doubt be popular considering how well the Galaxy S sold.

Either way, I say bring it on; I'm ready for the I9103.
