MWC 2011: ZTE Launches Android Smartphone Skate

As we move towards the end of Mobile World Congress, we have seen many smartphones in the span of the event. ZTE, a China-based company, has launched Skate - a Gingerbread smartphone.

Skating away...

They are not very new in the Android eco-system, as you can see in their CES tablet release last month. Anyway coming to the Skate, the smartphone is powered by an 800 MHz processor with an Adreno 200 GPU for graphics acceleration. The rest of the specs are as follows:
  • 4.3-inch Capacitive Touchscreen
  • 3G, Wi-Fi, A-GPS
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, EDR
  • 5 Megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash
  • Memory expandable up to 32 GB
The other orthodox smartphone features of the Skate include an Accelerometer, a digital compass and a Proximity sensor. The Skate also supports SNS integration and has in-built Google apps such as Picasa, YouTube and GTalk.

The Skate is expected to hit stores sometime in May. Although, there hasn’t been any mention on the pricing of the smartphone, we expect it to be in the value-for-money segment.
