Hongtao Zhou chose an interesting way of drawing people’s attention to a serious issue that we all know as global warming. The talented designer has designed a series of furniture ice sculptures that purposely sustain a “melted” appearance
to remind visitors of the imminent global climate change crisis. This extraordinary artwork is on display at the Milwaukee Art Museum’s first green furniture show, which is also the first green fair for the city.
This outdoor installation has been creatively crafted from a portion of snow collected from neighboring areas, while the rest came from ice cover sitting atop Lake Michigan. The curved shape of the legs of the amazing furniture is a result of slush shaped around a tree branch. This interesting exhibit will be seen till the cold winds can no longer keep the structures solidified.
